Daily Healthy Habits That Are Easy

Daily Healthy Habits That Are Easy

I am all for big goals. Big financial goals, health goals, and fitness goals alike. We should never stop setting + striving for these types of goals. However, the path to ultimate health is an accumulation of the tiny decisions we make every single day. One might call these small goals. They aren’t so small when they ultimately end up determining our quality of life + overall well-being. Once we make a few habits easy + part of our daily routines, they are SO easy to maintain. We are all busy these days. So, putting some things on auto-pilot is the only way to be sure healthy habits stick.

Tara’s Tuesday Tips:

6 Daily Healthy Habits That Are Easy

I can guarantee that the healthiest people you know make choices every day (perhaps multiple times per day) that contribute to their overall well-being. I recently read this quote that really stuck with me: If you don’t create a routine, one will be assigned to you. – Dan Koe. With that quote in mind, I am sharing my favorite 6 daily healthy habits that are so easy you can make them part of your routine today!

1. Drink Water Like You Mean It

We can disagree on everything from politics to veganism. One thing we can all agree on is that our bodies need water. Dehydration leads to headache, fatigue, lack of concentration, poor endurance, kidney stones, constipation and more. Fill a bottle or a glass and drink it like you mean it.

2. Go Outside

10 minutes is all it takes. A small break to breathe some fresh air + feel the sun on your skin. Maybe take note of a bird or two and a pretty flower. Stop and smell the roses is a catchy phrase for a reason. Improve your mental health and your vitamin D by going outside every single day.

3. Make INTENTIONAL Food Choices

I eat blueberries every day because I like them. I also know that blueberries have lots + lots of good-for-me things that my body needs. So, I make sure I have them around to enjoy daily. To support my athletic endeavors, I prioritize plant-based protein sources + carbohydrates. There is also never a shortage of fresh baked cookies around the MVF kitchen. Why? Intentionally, because we like to eat them and share them. Over the last few years, I have fine-tuned my intentions around food. I challenge you to pause + find yours too. Your diet doesn’t have to be perfect but it must be intentional.

4. Connect with People

Maximize the amount of time you spend with the people you enjoy being around, have similar interests, and energize you. Minimize the time you spend with people you don’t relate to, drain your energy, or fill you with negativity. Give yourself permission to be selective.

5. Make Movement a Lifestyle Not a Punishment

There are clear + distinct advantages to including purposeful movement in your life. You know them, I’ve written about them, you can continue to ignore them or simply give it a try! When you make movement an easy, intentional, pleasurable part of your daily routine, it becomes part of who you are + it no longer is something you ‘have’ to do but ‘get’ to do.

6. Go to Bed With a Clean Kitchen

Your future self will thank you. You do not want to start your day with a sink full of dirty dishes, a stinky trash can, or piles of papers on the counter. Give yourself a fighting chance at a good morning mood with this one little tip.

Food For Thought

The place between stimulus and response is where habit lies.  How you respond (or react) to a stimulus is more important to your overall health than you think.  That exact place is where good or bad habits form + you get to choose.  This is something that I repeat to myself daily.  Healthy habits do not have to be complex or rigid. The more healthy habits you stack + incorporate into your day, you make them easy + enjoyable instead of daunting.

Turning a new behavior into a healthy habit does not have to be complicated!  You don’t have to have a lot of extra money, time, or even kitchen skills to create healthy habits.  We can all have access to wellness if we choose it. Remember, if you don’t make time for wellness, you will be forced to make time for illness.

Well, isn’t that food for thought!
