Time To Rethink Your Pandemic Habits

Time To Rethink Your Pandemic Habits

After two years of pandemic living, how many new habits have you picked up? Forced to change many of our behaviors + expected to adapt to new ways of life, we all picked up some new habits. So how long will these new behaviors stick around? Is it time for a change? Or will some of these become a new way of life? It became easier for us to use food + screen time as a coping mechanism, be more sedentary, and bake to our hearts’ content. It also became easier to gain weight, distance ourselves from our loved ones, and avoid preventative appointments. Time to rethink your pandemic habits and mine. Ready for post-pandemic? I sure am.

 Tara’s Tuesday Tips:

Time To Rethink Your Pandemic Habits

I looked over a few new studies reviewing data from wearable devices worn during the pandemic. I wasn’t surprised to see that Americans were logging less steps per day, had extra pounds on Bluetooth scales, and overall increase in blood pressure readings.  Most importantly, far less cancer + cardiac screenings. Let’s rethink some of this! Time to shift our focus to the future, and take the control back!

Tara’s Top 5 Tips To Help You Rethink Your Pandemic Habits:

  1. Strive To Be The Best Version Of Yourself. Not The Post-Pandemic Version.

Be gentle on yourself as you emerge out of pandemic life.  It is ok to look different or feel different than you did over two years ago.  Celebrate the fact that your body pulled you through one of the worst times in modern history, and thank it for staying healthy.

  2. Be Realistic.

During lockdown, life was certainly different. For some, it was simpler.  For others, it was more difficult.  Some of the things you were doing during that time period might not work anymore. This happened to me! Read my story here.

  3. Check In With Your Social Media Feed.

Might be time to unplug from the news cycles, trends, and pressures of what you are ‘supposed’ to look like and feel like as you venture out into the world post-pandemic.  Your mental health is more important.  Quit searching for the pre or post-pandemic version of yourself, and search for the best version of yourself. This might start with unfollowing accounts that don’t fit with that or flat out don’t make you feel good.

  4. Make A List Of What Worked & What Didn’t Work.

Go through your new habits or routines that emerged over the last 2 years and make a list.  Then, really focus on if they worked or didn’t, be honest with yourself!  Restructure your new post-pandemic life to make the positive habits/routines a regular + easy part of your life. For me, I decided that my new home gym is a keeper because it worked so well over the last 2 years, I know it will work post-pandemic.  However, intermittent fasting doesn’t work for me any more.  Write it down, it helps!

  5. Don’t Live Your Life On The Sideline.

Waiting for the pandemic to end to do that amazing thing? I use the word post-pandemic here but will there ever be such a thing?  Maybe not completely.  News flash.  No one is coming to save you (but you!).  Bet on yourself.  What are you waiting for?!?!?!
