Tara’s Tips for Perfect Homemade Chewy Peanut Butter Granola Bars
Peanut Butter
- plain, creamy peanut butter is all you need, heat it in the microwave or stove-top until runny, if you are allergic – any nut butter will work
Oats
- old-fashioned rolled oats, not the steel cut or instant
Maple Syrup or Honey
- if you are vegan and don’t use honey, use maple syrup, both turn out fabulous
Salt
- coarse sea salt or kosher salt is best here
Grab + Go
- you can wrap these in individual wrappers + freeze them for busy mornings or lunch boxes, they also make perfect gifts
Mix-Ins
- chocolate chips, extra peanuts or any nut you love, shaved coconut, raisins, or dried fruit are all excellent additions

Homemade Chewy Peanut Butter granola Bars
No bake, 4 Ingredients, Gluten Free, with a vegan option. Packed with protein and flavor, these chewy bars are perfect for travel, kids, snacks, meal prep, busy mornings, or any time!
Ingredients
- 2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup honey (if not vegan) or maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp coarse sea salt (plus more for topping if desired)
Directions
- Step 1 Line 8×8 pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- Step 2 Pour oats in a medium bowl and set aside.
- Step 3 Heat peanut butter in a small pan over low heat until a thick liquid consistency is reached stirring constantly, turn off heat and add honey, stir until well combined.
- Step 4 Pour peanut butter mixture into oats and gently mix until all oats are moist, then add salt and stir.
- Step 5 Scoop batter into prepared pan evenly pressing the batter into the corners and flattening. Sprinkle with additional sea salt to taste.
- Step 6 Freeze for 30 minutes or until firm, or refrigerate for 2 hours.
- Step 7 Remove from freezer, cut into squares or rectangles, eat or serve immediately or wrap individually and store in refrigerator or freezer until ready to eat. Enjoy!
