Tara’s Tips For Making The Most Perfect + Easy
Black Bean Hummus Recipe:
Black Beans
Use 1 can (drained) or you use dry beans that have been cooked. You will need 1 1/2 cups. Check out The Vegetarian’s Guide To Beans if you want to learn more about working with dry beans.
How To Make Hummus Oil-Free
The SECRET ingredient in making perfect oil-free hummus? ICE WATER! Yep, you heard me correctly. Ice water. Works every time to create perfect consistency and you do not need the oil.
Tahini
Make sure your tahini only has one ingredient: sesame seeds! You don’t need anything else in there!!!! Check your labels!
Spice Level
Jalapeno peppers are spicy. I use one whole jalapeno. If you are sensitive to spice, I suggest leaving the seeds out. That gives you the pepper taste without increasing the heat. Alternatively, you could use only half the jalapeno.
Serving Ideas
With your favorite tortilla chips, diced avocado + tomatoes, over a salad, in a wrap, as a party dip or appetizer for your meatless Mexican meal.
Leftovers
Store in a glass, airtight container for up to 7 days. This does not freeze well because it does not defrost with a good consistency.
