These Air Fryer Garlic Chickpeas are the answer to any of your snacking questions. Healthy ✔ Easy ✔ Crispy ✔ Flavorful ✔ Quick ✔ Count me in 🙋♀️!
If you know me, you know I love my air fryer. I use my air fryer regularly here at MVF to make healthy snacks and side dishes. This one is a keeper. I’m putting it on my list of favorites along with Air Fryer Buffalo Chickpeas, Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries, Crinkle Fries, Green Beans, Broccoli, Tofu, and Beet Chips. All winners!
I also love chickpeas! Why? Chickpeas are just one of those beans that I can’t say enough great things about: 12g protein per serving, have a low glycemic index so keeps you fuller longer, slower to digest, and 35g of fiber (what?!?).
Start with dry beans or use a can
- Canned Beans: You can use a can of garbanzo beans for this recipe or you can cook them stove-top.
- Stove-Top: To cook them stove-top you will need to soak them overnight and simmer in a pot of water for 90 minutes. If you don’t soak them, they need to cook for about 4 hours.
- Instant Pot: To cook Chickpeas in the Instant Pot, place 2 cups dry beans in the pot, 4 cups water, 1 tsp salt (I like Himalayan Pink Sea Salt with this one), press ‘beans’ and adjust time to 35 minutes, when time is up let the steam release naturally. That’s it!
- I buy a big bag of dry garbanzo beans so that I always have them in my kitchen. Dried beans are perfect for making a double batch on the weekends in my Instant Pot. I store the cooked beans in a glass container and take them out when I need them for Chipotle Hummus or Cilantro Jalapeno Hummus or Cake Batter Dessert Hummus or Edible Cookie Dough or Chana Masala!
Tara’s Tips for Air Fryer Garlic Chickpeas Recipe Success:
- Start with cooked beans or a can (see above for tips)
- Dry them out with a towel before putting in air fryer or air dry for 10 minutes
- Shake the basket at 5 minutes or they will stick together
- What to do with these little cuties? Eat them immediately or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator and pop them in the air fryer again to crisp up when you are ready to eat them.
- Perfect on top of a salad instead of croutons or in lunchboxes or just as they are!
- Need a dip or dressing? Try Vegan Chipotle Mayo, Lemon Tahini, Easy Vegan Ranch, or Dairy-Free Creamy Italian.
