Vegan Air Fryer Sesame Seed Bagels

Who wants a bagel? ME! How about a bagel in your very own kitchen with no yeast, no boiling, and no fuss! These Vegan Air Fryer Sesame Seed Bagels are made with your favorite unsweetened vegan yogurt + self-rising flour. Air fry for 10 minutes + top with sesame seeds! You have yourself a homemade bagel in no time at all!

 

 

 

Tara’s Tips For Perfect Vegan Air Fryer Sesame Seed Bagels:

  • Make them into a sandwich, use them as a burger bun, or simply spread on your favorite butter, nut butter, jelly, hummus, or cream chz.
  • Yogurt: I used plain, unsweetened, oat milk yogurt but any unsweetened non-dairy yogurt will do!
  • Self-rising flour.Β  Not optional! You must have the self-rising kind to make these work!
  • Kneading: By hand or in a stand mixer are both options.Β  They do not need much kneading. 1-2 minutes is all it takes!

How To Get The Sesame Seeds To Stick Without Egg

1 teaspoon of water + 1/2 tsp cornstarch.

Mix until cornstarch has dissolved and brush onto bagels just as you would egg wash.

Apply seeds to taste.

They will stick like glue!

Vegan Air Fryer Sesame Seed Bagels

Quick + easy! These Vegan Air Fryer Sesame Seed Bagels are made with yogurt + self-rising flour! That's it! Top them off with sesame seeds, yum!

Ingredients
  • 1cup self rising flour
  • 1 cup yogurt (I used Nancy's vegan plain oat milk yogurt)
  • toppings to taste
Directions
  • Step 1 Place yogurt + flour in a large bowl and gently stir until combined.
  • Step 2 Knead dough on a clean + floured surface for 1-2 minutes or until a soft dough ball has formed. Alternatively, knead using the dough hook of a stand mixer for 1 minute on low speed.
  • Step 3 Divide dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each piece into an 8 inch rope shape, then attach the ends to create a circle/bagel shape.
  • Step 4 Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 5 To apply the seeds: mix 1/2 tsp corn starch with 1 tsp water until corn starch dissolves and brush onto each bagel top. Then coat each bagel with desired amount of sesame seeds
  • Step 6 If you use oil, you can opt to lightly spray the inside tray of your air fryer to prevent any sticking.
  • Step 7 Place bagels into air fryer basket. May need to be done in batches. Air fry for 10 minutes or until lightly golden brown and puffed up to bagel shape. Carefully remove from air fryer and allow to cool before slicing. Enjoy!
