Tara’s Tips For Perfect Healthy Buffalo Chickpea Salad
- No Mayo!
- Yep, you heard me correctly. No mayo! No vegan mayo either!!!
- The secret ingredient?
- Silken tofu! If you know me, you know I love to use silken tofu to create a creamy (but healthy) texture in lots of recipes. It works perfectly here.
- Hot Sauce
- I used Frank’s Hot Sauce but you can use any brand you love. Read the labels if you choose to use buffalo sauce.
- Chickpeas
- Start with 2 cans (drained + rinsed) or use 3 cups cooked chickpeas. Need garbanzo bean cooking time? Check this out: The Vegetarian’s Guide To Beans.
- Serving Suggestions
- In a wrap, pita, on toast. Layered on top of lettuce leaves, in a salad. Alternatively, you could eat this as is with a fork alongside extra celery, pickles, tomatoes, and chips!

Healthy Buffalo Chickpea Salad (No Mayo!)
Easy + healthy vegan buffalo chickpea salad. Takes only 5 minutes to make and can be eaten with a fork or in a sandwich!
Ingredients
- 3 cups chickpeas (2 cans drained and rinsed)
- 1/2 cup hot sauce
- 1 onion
- 4 celery stalks
- 1/2 cup silken tofu
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp garlic powder
Directions
- Step 1 Place celery and onion in a food processor and pulse 5 times. Add chickpeas and pulse another 5 times. Scrape down the sides of the food processor bowl.
- Step 2 Then, add the silken tofu, hot sauce, garlic powder, and salt. Pulse another 5 times. Stir everything and scrape down the sides again. Do not over process, this salad needs some texture.
- Step 3 Serve over lettuce, in a wrap or tortilla shell or simply eat with a fork. Perfect with tomatoes, pickles, celery sticks, and chips.
- Step 4 Enjoy!
