Yes! Guacamole is easy to make
This recipe makes guacamole for 2 people + you can double or triple it! Make it for a party or keep it all to yourself.
One Bowl & 10 minutes
All you need are 2 avocados, one onion (I like red but you can use the yellow or white), one tomato, jalapeño, cilantro (works best with the fresh kind if you have it), salt, and the juice of a lemon or a lime or both! Yep. It is that easy and I promise it will be the only guacamole recipe you will ever need.
Tara’s Tips for Perfect Guacamole Every Time
- Invest in an avocado gadget of some sort. There are lots of variations. I like one that does everything including peeling, slicing, and easily getting the pit out.
- When you purchase avocados, make sure they are soft OR plan ahead to make your guacamole recipe after they have softened.
- To speed up the avocado softening process, place them in a brown paper bag for a few days.
- How do you choose the best avocado? A perfectly ripe avocado for this guacamole recipe is purple-brown in color and gives a little when you press it.
- Use fresh cilantro if you have access to it.
- Squeeze the lemon and lime juice and taste test your guacamole, then squeeze a little more until you get it right. I use about 2 tsp of each.
- If you don’t like chunky guacamole, chop your veggies very small OR use only 1/2 an onion and half a tomato or you can whirl the veggies in your food processor or electric chopper. This also cuts down on the prep time.
- Get all of the lumps out BEFORE you mix in the other ingredients. You can use a fork and mash it, you can also use a hand blender or food processor to smooth it out. Do this before adding the other ingredients in.
