Tara’s Tips For Perfect Buffalo Chickpea Veggie Burgers
- Use rolled oats not steel cut or instant.
- Don’t over pulse the mixture in your food processor. Stop pulsing when everything is mixed.
- I use Frank’s Hot Sauce for my burgers. You can also use bottled buffalo sauce if you prefer.
- If you have time, put the mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set prior to shaping into patties.
- Make sure your burgers are done before removing from the oven! Check to make sure they are not too mushy inside + leave them in with the oven turned off if they are still wet after the 45 minutes.
- Topping ideas include extra buffalo sauce, lettuce, tomato, jalapeño peppers, red onion, ketchup, mustard, avocado, guacamole, or shredded cabbage. Totally awesome topped with Vegan Chipotle Mayo.
- Serve on hamburger buns, in pita bread, in your favorite wrap, on a salad, over a bed of greens or on top of quinoa.
- Leftovers? These store perfectly in the freezer or refrigerator. When you are ready to reheat them, they are awesome browned in a skillet or 90 seconds in the microwave.
