- No Tofu? Use cauliflower! Follow the same instructions!
- What should you serve your Orange Tofu with? Steamed brown rice, pour over rice noodles, pair with Air Fried Green Beans or Broccoli, or Perfect Basmati Rice.
- Use fresh-squeezed orange juice if available to cut down on added sugars in this recipe. If not available, go with whatever you have!
- The zest is optional but awesome if you want that extra orange/sweet kick.
- Want to spice it up? Sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes on top, add in a tablespoon of sriracha to your sauce, or a ½ tsp red chili pepper powder.

Air Fryer Orange Tofu
This vegan + gluten free + oil-free Air Fryer Orange Tofu starts out with crispy tofu cubes cooked in your air fryer and tossed in a sweet + zesty orange sauce. Tastes just like Chinese take-out! YUM!
Ingredients
- Two 14 oz blocks of organic firm or extra firm tofu
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 3 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 5 tbsp fresh-squeezed orange juice
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 4 tbsp liquid aminos or soy sauce
- 2 tbsp coconut palm sugar (sub white cane or brown sugar is ok)
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1-inch fresh ginger finely shredded
- 1 tbsp corn starch or arrowroot powder
- ¼ cup water
Directions
- Step 1 Drain water from tofu
- Step 2 Cut tofu into cubes
- Step 3 Place tofu cubes in a glass bowl, sprinkle with 1 tbsp sifted nutritional yeast, (sift through a flour sifter) and then sprinkle with the garlic and onion powder, coat well.
- Step 4 Place the tofu in the air fryer in a single layer. Air Fry at 390 degrees for 10 minutes, flipping each tofu cube over after 5 minutes of cooking. This will need to be done in batches as the tofu needs to be in a single layer in the air fryer.
- Step 5 While your tofu cooks, add all remaining ingredients (except the cornstarch and water) to a skillet or pot. Heat over medium-high heat for 5 minutes. Mix the cornstarch/arrowroot and cold water in a separate small bowl until you have no lumps. Add to your pot with the orange sauce. Cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
- Step 6 After you’re done cooking the batches of tofu, transfer your tofu to the skillet with your orange sauce and gently stir until all tofu is coated.
- Step 7 Serve immediately with rice and/or vegetables, top with sliced green onions, red pepper flakes.
- Step 8 Keep leftovers in an airtight glass container for up to 3 days, if you have any!
