Tara’s tips for Perfect Basmati Rice Recipe Success:

  1. Rinse the rice until clear
  2. Soak the rice for 30 minutes. Β *Try not to cut this step out … it completely changes the outcome
  3. Add a pinch of salt while cooking
  4. Invest in a rice cooker if possible. Β A rice cooker goes on my list of totally-worth-it-kitchen-gadgets!

Perfect Basmati Rice

Perfect Basmati Rice every time! No fail recipe! The key is to rinse until clear, soak, and add a hint of salt.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Directions
  • Step 1 Rinse rice in a bowl of cold water by filling the bowl with water and draining, repeat 10 times, discard water used for rinsing.
  • Step 2 Soak rice in cold water for 30 minutes
  • Step 3 Drain the water used for soaking
  • Step 4 Add rice, water, and salt to pot or rice cooker
  • Step 5 If using a stove-top pot: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat in an uncovered pot. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and boil with lid on for 15 minutes, remove lid, give it a gentle stir, continue to boil off any excess water with the lid off. Fluff with a fork and enjoy!
  • Step 6 If using a rice cooker: Place all ingredients in rice cooker and follow individual pot’s instructions. Cook time is approximately 20 minutes depending on your rice cooker.
  • Step 7 Eat immediately, or store in a covered container in refrigerator for up to 3 days.
