No Air Fryer? No Problem!

Pan-fry: Coat your tofu cubes in a few tablespoons of sesame oil and sauté over medium-high heat until golden brown on all sides. Easy!

Air Fryer Gochujang Tofu Recipe

Yummy tofu! Air fried and mixed with a flavorful gochujang sauce!

Ingredients
  • 14 ounce package organic extra firm tofu
  • 2 tbsp gochujang
  • 1 tbsp liquid aminos or soy sauce and 1 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tsp grated ginger or ginger paste
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic or garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water
  • topping options: sliced green onions, crushed peanut, red pepper flakes, sesame seeds
Directions
  • Step 1 Preheat air fryer to 390 degrees.
  • Step 2 Drain water from tofu packaging, no need to press.
  • Step 3 Cut tofu into 1 inch cubes.
  • Step 4 Place the tofu in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air Fry at 390 degrees for 10 minutes, flipping each tofu cube over after 5 minutes of cooking. Depending on the size of your air fryer, this might need to be done in batches as the tofu needs to be in a single layer in the air fryer.
  • Step 5 While your tofu cooks, whisk together the gochujang, liquid aminos, coconut aminos, water, ginger, and garlic in a bowl.  Pour the mixture into a medium skillet and heat over medium-low heat until bubbly. Cover and reduce heat to lowest setting. 
  • Step 6 Meanwhile, mix corn starch and water in a small bowl until smooth, set aside.  
  • Step 7 When tofu is air fried until golden brown, carefully remove from air fryer and add to the stovetop gochujang sauce.  Give everything a gentle mix.  Raise heat to medium, cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.  Then, whisk in the cornstarch slurry.  Mix until fully incorporated.  Reduce heat to low, cover and cook for 5 minutes.  
  • Step 8 Remove from skillet, top with optional toppings, serve over rice or noodles, alongside your favorite veggies or eat as is! Enjoy!
