Hi Friends! I’ve got something a little different for you today. Why? Because it is October! Happy October + Happy Tara Month! Tara month? Yep! It is my birthday month + in honor of birthday month we get a week off from my usual recipes + healthy Tuesday Tips! For my birthday, I will treat you to a list of my favorites! Enjoy my a few of my favorite things vegetarian version, and next week back to regular lists of healthy habits + kitchen tips I know you all can’t live without
Tara’s Tuesday Tips:
A Few of My (Vegetarian) Favorite Things
I have spent a lot of birthdays as a vegetarian! Let’s just say, I’ve sampled my fair share of plant-based treats, restaurants, kitchen gadgets + shops. Choosing my favorites was no easy task! Taking a pause to realize what truly makes something a ‘favorite’ was actually kind of awesome + I’m glad I did it! Maybe some of these things are on your list of favorite things too!
A Good Apple
I know, I know. Who starts their list with an apple. Truth be told. Number one on the list. A crispy, sweet, fresh apple. Top of the list. Oh + don’t forget that amazing little gadget that takes just the core out. Perfection.
Farmers Markets
Take me to a Farmers Market! But make it a really good one! With local herbs, flowers, produce + baked bread or maybe a cookie.
My Kitchen Filled with People
Come to my kitchen + let me feed you! This might be tied with a good apple for number one on the list. If you have the privilege of knowing me + living anywhere near me, you already know that I like to feed you. When my kitchen (and other adjacent rooms) are filled with my people eating my food, I am one happy girl.
Costco
Need I say more? My family hopes I don’t say more so that I can stop embarrassing them. If you know you know. Enough said.
Pretzels
Currently obsessed with Quinn pretzels but seriously any pretzel will do. If a girl could live on pretzels alone, it would be this girl.
Mason Jars
Such perfection. An organizers dream. Can I have a white lid + a label to go with that? Food, dog treats, paper clips, multiple sizes + shapes. Not many things in the world have a resume like a Mason Jar.
Avocado Oil Spray
As we stopped using oil, this saved my life. No joke. A little spritz goes a long way, spares a ton of calories + fat. Above all, keeps my food from sticking where I don’t want it to stick. Currently loving Primal Kitchen + Chosen Foods.
Just Egg
Another one that might have you scratching your head. How did this make it to my favorite things list? Coming in at 100 calories + 7 grams of protein for something that I can toss in the microwave + eat as an “egg” without any animals involved. Looks like an egg, tastes like an egg, in my house … it is an egg. Yes. Please.
Getting out of the kitchen for a moment …
Shocking fact comin’ in hot. I do have favorite things outside of the kitchen! Yep, its true!
New Running Shoes
A fresh, new pair of running shoes can turn just about anyone into a runner. Super springy + never been stinky, let’s go!
Knotted Headbands
Since this is my 2022 list, I am not afraid to admit, knotted headbands are on my list this year. Ask me when next Tara month rolls around how much money I wasted on knotted headbands …
The View
I do love to watch a group of accomplished women fight over politics, agree over a good book, critique the latest movie, interview the latest + greatest. Quirky but true. Don’t knock it ’til you try it.
Sea Turtle Nests
The last 2 years I have been blessed walking + running around countless turtle nests + turtle tracks. Life according to a turtle? Such wisdom! Swim at your own pace, be comfortable in your own shell, never forget where you came from.
Food For Thought
This list was fun to dream up + share with you but my absolute favorite thing of all is living + inspiring a vegetarian lifestyle. One meal at a time, one recipe at a time, one blog post at a time. I hope you find a way to honor ‘Tara month’ + find something that is your favorite + share it with your favorite people! Happy October, friends!
All the best,
Tara
