Tara’s Tips For Perfect Instant Pot Indian Turmeric Quinoa
- You MUST rinse quinoa before cooking + eating! Rinsing it washes away the coating called saponin. If you don’t rinse it … it will taste like soap and you will never eat it again. Use a fine mesh strainer and run it under cold water for a minute. It is easy + worth it!
- Eat this instead of rice! That is what we do!

- This is an awesome recipe for a quick side dish. Toss everything in the Instant Pot and you are good to go. You can easily make this ahead of time and just reheat when you are ready to eat.
- If you want to add some vegetables in, toss in a bag of frozen peas + carrots after the quinoa is done cooking. Simply wait for the timer to go off, wait an additional 5 minutes, release the steam, stir in the vegetables, place the cover back on and wait 5 minutes before eating. The vegetables will cook perfectly in that time!
- Let’s talk about spice. I use one whole teaspoon of red chili pepper powder in this recipe. If you like it hot, do the same. If you do not, start with 1/4 tsp and you can always add but you cannot take it away!
