Authentic Indian Chutney is perfect as a dip for your favorite snack, spread it into a sandwich, alongside uttapam, idli or samosa or on top of chaat.

  • Cilantro

    • use fresh cilantro not dried
    • remove the stems + use the leaves of the cilantro for best results
  • Cumin

    • powder or fresh seeds will both work here
  • Water

    • add extra water a little at a time as needed to achieve desired consistency, you want a thick puree
  • Lemon

    • Fresh lemon or lemon juice will both work!
  • How to store your homemade authentic Indian cilantro chutney

    • store in refrigerator in a glass jar until ready to use for up to 7 days
  • What to eat with this yummy chutney

    • Idli, samosa, uttapam, drizzled on top of chaat, layered into a sandwich, or as a dip for your favorite snack!

Authentic Indian Cilantro Chutney

Super easy + flavorful + fresh + ready in 5 minutes! YUM!

Ingredients
  • Chutney
  • 4 tbsp peanuts
  • 1/2 tsp salt + 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 cup cilantro
  • 1 jalapeño
  • 2 tbsp plus 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Add peanuts last
Directions
  • Step 1 Add all ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until ingredients combined and pureed until desired consistency. You want to retain some texture of the ingredients, do not over blend, add extra water one tablespoon at a time but be careful not to add too much, you want a thick puree.
  • Step 2 Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator until ready to use.
