  • This recipe is SO EASY!
  • Double the rice paper sheets, don’t skip this, you will be sorry!
  • Be generous with the marinade, don’t skimp!!!
  • Use clean kitchen scissors to cut the rice paper, a knife will not work.
  • Be careful not to overcook your rice paper bacon, there is a fine line between done and burned for these. Mine take 7 minutes.  Check yours as the 7 minutes approaches.
  • Rice paper typically comes shaped like a circle, cut your circle into strips one and a half inches wide.  You will end up with 5 pieces of bacon and an extra piece of the circle on each end that you can discard.

Vegan Rice Paper Bacon Recipe

: about 24 pieces of bacon

My favorite vegan bacon! So versatile, crispy, yummy, and quick! Turn your leftover rice paper sheets into something awesome!

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp liquid aminos (sub soy sauce or tamari)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 8 sheets rice paper
Directions
  • Step 1 Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
  • Step 2 Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone liner.
  • Step 3 Whisk together all ingredients for the marinade in a flat glass bowl.
  • Step 4 Align 2 pieces of rice paper, one over the other, creating a layer of 2 rice paper sheets together. Using a clean pair of kitchen scissors, cut rice paper sheets into bacon strips, approximately 5 per sheet. Repeat with all sheets. Keep the matching strips together with their pair.
  • Step 5 Next, fill a shallow/flat glass bowl with warm tap water.  Dip the 2 layered rice paper strips and dip them in the water together ensuring they stay lined up.  This sticks them together. Drain off the excess water with your fingers.
  • Step 6 Take each doubled up strip and dip into the marinade making sure both sides get covered with the marinade. Use a pastry brush as needed to be sure all areas of each strip are coated in the marinade.
  • Step 7 After coating with the marinade, place each piece of bacon on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Step 8 Bake in a 400-degree oven for 7 minutes. You do not need to flip them but watch them carefully as 7 minutes approaches. They quickly burn after bubbling so remove them promptly. All ovens vary so it might take an extra minute to get the brown bubbling you want.
  • Step 9 Eat immediately or store in a glass airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 days and reheat in the oven or toaster oven until crispy.
  • Step 10 Enjoy!
