Popcorn is probably the most perfect snack on the entire planet. Yes, I feel that strongly about the absolute perfectness of popcorn. This Indian Style Popcorn is high in fiber, and best of all, popcorn is vegetarian (vegan if you want it to be), gluten free, no fuss to make, and is a guilt-free snack.
High fiber foods keep you fuller longer, and take longer to digest, and are AWESOME for your overall gut health. (Read more about the wonders of fiber here: How To Improve Your Health With Fiber) In addition to being high in fiber, popcorn has only about 200 calories per 1/4 cup of unpopped kernels! Once popped you can spice popcorn so many ways that it becomes a flavorful, savory, unique creation every time you pop some. That is to say, you can toss on different flavors every time and never get bored! Popcorn perfect if you are focusing on calorie density like I do. Not sure? Tara’s Tips for Perfect Indian Style Popcorn Every Time:
- Adjust the spices to your tastes, add more salt if you like salty, more chili powder if you like spicy.
- You can pop your popcorn in the microwave, using a whirly pop, or stove-top in a pot. No matter how you pop it, the spices will be amazing!
- Be careful what you pour on your popcorn + how much oil you use to pop it with. This is where the calories can add up really quickly.
Happy popping!
