So glad you are here! Hi! I’m Tara + I founded MyVegetarianFamily.com in 2017.  My Vegetarian Family is a family of 4 living in Winter Park, Florida. In the family are two teenagers raised vegetarian.  Both are off to college navigating college campuses and life as vegetarians.  Hubby (aka Mr. MVF) is a life-long vegetarian.  He is my official MVF recipe-taste-tester.

What You Can Expect Here

Everything you see on this site is my creation.  The food you see is made from recipes I created + cooked in our kitchen + photographed by me (right before we ate it 😊).

I use my small part of the internet to share what I am making every day in my kitchen in hopes of making it easier for others to create easy, healthy, meat-free meals for their families too.

I believe in eating real, whole foods that provide nourishment for the things I set out to do.  That being said, I am a big believer that food is more than fuel. Food should taste good – even the foods that are good for you.  Every recipe I post is comprised of real, whole, unrefined  foods.

Rest assured, all of my recipes have been tested multiple times to ensure that you achieve recipe success.  By the time they make it to the website, my creations have also passed multiple taste tests ❤

Hooray for Tuesdays!

Each week, I write “Tara’s Tuesday Tips”, an article I post on the blog with tips on health or wellness or food or living a meat-free life.  I will always give you my honest opinions + pass along things I have learned in my career and in my life in hopes that you can learn from them too.

My Story

People often ask me why we are vegetarian.  There was a time when I had only one answer: nothing should have to lose its life for us to eat.  As our years of vegetarianism have evolved, hubby and I now enjoy a more whole food, plant-based diet.  This transition grew out of our passion for the protection of animals + our growing concern for our personal health and disease prevention.

As a doctorate prepared nurse practitioner, I have many years of experience studying, observing, and researching disease processes, nutrition, and the effects of diet on health and longevity.

The foods I choose to put in my body are carefully chosen to fuel my runs.  This is a top priority for us.  Mr. MVF and I are avid marathon runners + health enthusiasts logging in many plant-powered miles each week.

We also spend lots of time spoiling our Australian Labradoodle, Sydney.  When I am not working on the blog, Sydney + I are usually doing pet therapy visits at our local children’s hospital 🐶.

Mission Statement

To Live + Inspire A Vegetarian Lifestyle 💚 One Meal At a Time 💚

Our mission statement guides me in my daily work on this blog and there are a few quotes that guide our mission:

“let food be thy medicine”,

“if you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito”,

“be kind whenever possible … it is always possible”,

“be the change you wish to see in the world”,

“the goal is not to be better than the other person, but your previous self”.
